about 1534 in Witney, Oxfordshire, England.

Occupation: Cooper.

He died in 1655.
I believe there was another John Merriman born 1617 who, like his
father, was a
cooper.

died on 13 Feb 1693/1694.
15 F iii. Elizabeth MERRIMAN was born in 1615 in London, Middlesex,
England. She died after 1655.

died in 1640.

Esther married Thomas CURTIS III son of Thomas CURTIS and Mary CURTIS
about 1751. Thomas was born about 1729. He died about 1776.

46. Thomas CURTIS III (Thomas CURTIS, Mary MERRIMAN, Nathan or

Thomas married Esther BENHAM daughter of Joseph BENHAM and Hope COOK
about 1751. Esther was born about 1729/1730. She died about 1802.

Samuel married (1) Jerusha JOHNSON daughter of Rueben JOHNSON and Mary
DAYTON in CT. Jerusha was born about 1726 in CT. She died on 17 Nov
1817.
They had the following children:

Eighth Generation
48. Hannah Esther CURTIS (Esther BENHAM, Joseph BENHAM, Hannah
MERRIMAN, Nathan or Nathaniel, George, Gregory, Thomas) was born on 22
Apr 1768. She died on 15 Sep 1832.
Hannah married Lemuel COOK son of Henry COOK IV and Hannah BENHAM on 26
Apr 1783 in Cheshire, Conn.. Lemuel was born on 10 Sep 1759 in
Northbury, (Plymouth) Conn.. He died on 20 May 1866 in Clarendon,
Orleans Co. New York.
Lemuel was the Oldest and last living suvivor of the American
Revolution and the last full pensioner of
that
war.He enlisted at age 16 and was wounded several times. I can picture
him marching alone in parades.
He was an active Mason and a life long Domocrat. His church was
Congregational. He lived in Plymouth
Conn. until 1890 when he moved to Clinton, NY. In 1795 he returned to
Plymouth (then Northbury)
Conn.
and moved to Pompey, NY. In 1805, moved to North Bergen in 1821 and to
Clarendon, NY. in 1832
where
he died in 1866. Resources: Sons of the American Revolution; Family

Lemuel and Hannah had the following children:
51 F i. Electa COOK was born about 1786 in Clinton, NY. She died about
1804 in Pompey, Onondaga County, NY..
+ 52 M ii. Miles COOK was born on 26 Apr 1788. He died about 1875.
+ 53 F iii. Esther COOK was born on 6 Aug 1789. She died on 21 Jul
1863.
+ 54 M iv. Lemuel COOK Jr. was born before 26 Aug 1792. He died on 4
Jan 1858.
55 M v. True Worthy COOK was born in 1795 in Clinton, NY. He died on 10
Oct 1877.
True was born at Plymouth, Litohfield County, CT and went with his
father to
Pompey, NY. in 1804. His wife was also born in CT. and they came to
North Bergen
before 1830. In the 1840's they removed to Clarendon where they lived
the
remainder of their lives. True was a very successful farmer at North
Bergen
and Clarendon; he owned several bundred acres at both locations. He
provided
a home for his father after he retired and diring the the last years of
his life.
Although the census records show that True and Mary had a son and a
daughter
no further mention of them is found after 1840, we are unable to
determine either
their names or their destiny. True was active in town politics as well
as family affairs.
Upon his death his entire estate went to his wife and then to the
Dawson
family when she died.
True married Mary Ann DAWSON estimated 1814. Mary was born on 18 May
1800. She died on 26 May 1885.
56 M vi. Lyman COOK was born about 1799. He died in Mich..
Lyman Cook was born about 1799. Lyman died
about 1892 in Mich., at age unknown. He married
Amy Huling 09 Jan 1808. Amy was born 02 Feb
1789. Amy died 20 Aug 1867 in Saratoga County,
New York, at age 78. I have recently discovered
that the following information relates to another
Lyman Cook, not ours. I am not sure that I have
the spouse correct. I have kept the records in my
data base on the descendants of that Lyman Cook,
although I don't believe them to be related to
us.
I will keep looking for information on our Lyman,
who, I believe died in a poor house in Michigan.
Another rumor is Buffalo, Wisconcin and that his
wifes name was Sally (more reliable).
Born at Northbury, Connecticut the eldest of
Lemuel's children, came to New York at an early
date and settled in Saratoga County where he
lived throughout his life. Resided at Saratoga
Springs and Milton, New York. He may have moved
to Clarendon, New York for a short time but
returned to Saratoga County where all of his
children were born and where both he and Amy
died. He was a successful Farmer.
+ 57 M vii. Curtis M. COOK was born on 14 May 1802. He died on 1 Dec
1882.
+ 58 F viii. Electa COOK was born on 18 Sep 1804. She died on 12 Oct
1877.
+ 59 F ix. Hannah COOK was born in 1808. She died on 13 Feb 1832.
+ 60 M x. Gilbert COOK was born in 1810. He died on 9 Sep 1889.
+ 61 M xi. Selah COOK was born in 1812. He died on 24 Jul 1894.
50. Medad MUNSON (Samuel MUNSON, Phebe MERRIMAN, Caleb, Nathan or
Nathaniel, George, Gregory, Thomas) was born on 9 May 1757 in
Wallingford, New Haven Co., CT. He died on 29 Nov 1846.
A farmer and a whig. Remarried 4 Dec 1805 to Lucretia ???.
Medad married Sybil CARRINGTON daughter of Timothy CARRINGTON and Mamre
MUNSON on 20 Nov 1777 in CT. Sybil was born on 23 May 1757 in CT. She
died on 3 May 1805 in Wallingford, New Haven Co., CT.
Medad and Sybil had the following children:
+ 62 M i. Asahel Johnson MUNSON was born on 6 Mar 1782. He died on 8
Oct 1824.
