children. At the time of this

Roy and Frances (Gulvin) Benson. He was a Iife-long Canandaigua
resident and had
been a well known painter and paper hanger, maintaining his own

years. He was a member of the United (Presbyterian-Baptist) Church.
He is survived

moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1961 and earned a Bachelor Degree from
U of NM in 1971. Gordon attended Law School in 1971 but had to withdraw
due to lack of funds. He worked for a book store until 1976 when he
obtained a
position at The University of New Mexico. Gordie died of prostate
cancer.

Gordon K . Benson, Jr. (1936-1996), formerly of Canandaigua, succumbed
on
August 13, 1996 after a six year battle with prostate qancer. He was at
Presbyterian
Pickard Convalescent Center in Albuquerque, N.M.
Mr. Benson had
resided in Albuquerque since 1961 . He received a B.U.S.
degree
from the University of New Mexico in 1971, then spent 14 years working
in local retail
bookstores, followed by 19 years with the UNM Press. Before selling his
Galactic
Central Publications to his English partner last year, he published 45
bibliographies of
science fiction authors. His science fiction collection (83 cartons)
was donated to the
special collection division of the Golden Library at Eastern New Mexico
University in
Portales, N.M. Gordon was also a lover of cats and always had several
living with him.
Mr. Benson
is survived by his two brothers, Peter of Medina, Ohio and David of
Findlay, Ohio; sister, Elinor Tyler and mother, Ruth of Livonia, N.Y.
There will be no
funeral services. Cremation and burial of cremains will be
handled

Adelaide is the one I would pick, if by some divine act, I was allowed
to choose my own mother.
She never scolded me. I don't recall her even speaking harshly to me.
This, even though I was
the most troublesome of the family. I became rebellious in the third
grade and refused to do
school work. I failed that grade and several others until the School
Board insisted that I be seen
by a doctor. The doctor found no reason for my lack of good study
habits, but, I think, both of my
parents felt that something was wrong and as a result I was treated
differently from my siblings
in regard to discipline. I'm sure that my clashes with the academic
world caused embarrassment
for the entire family. Adelaide had 9 children an admirable job raising
them all and all turned out

always lived in NYS. He married

sister, Evelyn Cook who lives in Buffalo. Mr. Cook was an auto mechanic
for a number of years. For
the last 30 years he had an electrical contracting business called

flying, he had a pilots license for small planes. Mr. Cook had never
been in a hospital until Mar 6 of

story of a boy growing up with morals and character and who went
to war for very moral reasons. Flying over Germany in 1944, alone,
under fire, is something I can not ever see myself having the
courage to do. He was, very obviously, in possession of the
"right stuff". Bunny had 21 happy years with his second wife
"Kate". When I recently spoke with Kate (gaining permission to
publish Uncle Bunny's biography on my web site) she said that they
were 21 years without an argument. That seems remarkable to
me. He was loved and respected by his Step son, his wife and
four children. He died of colon and liver cancer in the
Thompson Hospital. Bunny was a painter and worked with his
father, Roy Benson Sr., for many years. He and Kate were
members of the Congregational Church.

Hill
area in social services and was well known and respected in her field.
She will be
missed. Mrs. Marko is survived by her husband, Theodore Matthew Marko
III; three
step-sons, Ray Marko of Camden, Joseph Matthew Marko and Theodore
Matthew
Marko III, both of Rock Hill; three step-daughters, Denise Simmons of
Clinton, Kristen
Loreal Marko of Liberty, and Christina M. Marko of Rock Hill; her
parents, John A.
and Miriam C. Cook of Rock Hill; two brothers, John L. Cook and Gregory
A. Cook,
both of Rock Hill; her sister, Miss Jodi N. Cook of Charlotte; and two
step-
grandchildren,
Shannon Simmons and James Simmons. Memorials were made to Hospice
Community Care, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, S.C. 29730 or to
Pilgrim's Inn,

PHELPS - Edward A. Cook, 64,of 11 Banta St., died on Thursday (Dec. 6,
2007) at
Rochester General Hospital. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at
the
Cheney Funeral Home, 70 Main St~, Phelps. A memorial service will be
held
at 11 a.m. Monday at the United Church of Phelps, with the Rev. A.J.
Tierson
officiating. Private burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery.

throat specialist there.
